Early Check-in & Late Check-out on an Alleppey Houseboat
Houseboat timings are fairly standardised, but there's some flexibility if you ask in advance. Here's what's possible with check-in and check-out.
The Standard Timings
- Check-in: 12:00 PM (noon)
- Check-out: 9:00 AM the next morning
- Boats anchor by 5:00 PM (Kerala Tourism rules — no night cruising)
These timings exist because the boat needs turnaround time between guests and operates on a day-cruise-plus-overnight rhythm.
Early Check-in
Sometimes possible if the boat is free earlier and the crew is ready — but it can't be guaranteed, especially in peak season when boats are booked back-to-back. Always request it in advance rather than assuming.
Late Check-out
Occasionally possible for a late-morning departure, subject to the boat's next booking. Again, request ahead — it may carry a small charge or depend on availability.
Want More Time? Consider a Second Night
If you want to truly extend your time on the water, a multi-night stay is the reliable option — see our multi-night guide.
How to Request Flexibility
- Ask at the time of booking, not on arrival
- Be flexible — availability depends on the boat's schedule
- Confirm any extra charge in writing
