Alleppey Houseboat AC Timing Explained (By Package)

One of the most common booking questions: when exactly does the AC run on a houseboat? Here's a clear, honest explanation.

Why AC Isn't 24/7

Houseboats run their air conditioning on a generator while anchored (not mains power), so AC operates during set hours rather than around the clock. During the day, the open deck and natural breeze on the water keep you cool; AC matters most at night for sleeping.

Typical AC Hours by Package

• Standard: AC roughly 8:30 PM – 6:30 AM (bedroom only)
• Premium: AC roughly 5:30 PM – 7:30 AM (bedroom / hall)
• Semi Luxury: AC available all the time (bedroom or hall)

Compare the tiers on our packages page. Exact hours can vary slightly by boat — confirm when booking.

Which Package Should You Choose?

• Standard is fine for most travellers in cooler months — AC covers the sleeping hours
• Premium extends AC into the evening and morning
• Semi Luxury suits summer travellers or anyone who wants AC available anytime

Tip

If you're travelling in the hot months (Mar-May) or with young kids or elderly guests, the longer AC of Premium or Semi Luxury is worth it. In winter, Standard is usually plenty.
